The reason behind anyone having health problems is ultimately that the cells in the body are not working as well as they should. This usually starts out because of toxins entering the cells. These toxins may have been taken in through food, drink or ‘drugs’, absorbed through the skin, or inhaled from the air. They may also have been created by the body as a by-product of a natural process but the body has been unable to detoxify and excrete them. As we start to empty the cells of these toxins and help them to return to proper function we will have to move these toxins out of your body. It is inevitable that sometimes this may cause some discomfort and therefore some guidelines are given below.
If at any time you feel very unwell, or you suspect that your symptoms are not related to your supplement or remedy prescription, please stop taking all of these prescription items and contact your local GP or pharmacist as you would normally.
Headache
If you experience a headache it may be that the toxins are being released from your tissues faster than your body can eliminate them. This can particularly happen if liver function is poor or you suffer from constipation. There will be elements in your natural health prescription to address these underlying issues but they may not have had a chance to be effective enough yet. Therefore cease taking everything on your natural health prescription for two days. During this time you must follow your diet carefully and drink plenty of water and/or fruit teas - approximately 2 litres for women and 3 litres for men. Reintroduce the natural health prescription items again, using half doses to start with for another couple of days where possible. If the problem reoccurs stop taking all natural health prescription items again and telephone the Clinic and ask for your Practitioner to give you a call.
If at any point you feel very unwell this may be nothing to do with your supplement prescription so deal with as you would usually eg by contacting your GP.
Diarrhoea
Sometimes a change in diet or the introduction of vitamins and minerals can cause you to pass loose stools for a couple of days. If they are very soft but not watery this is not neccessarily a bad sign its just that it may be different to what you are used to or it may take a couple of days to settle down. If they are watery and/or you have cramping pains then stop taking all supplements for a couple of days and then reintroduce them at half the amount for a couple of days where possible eg 1 capsule instead of 2, slowly moving back to the full dose. If the problem reoccurs then stop taking all natural health prescription items again and telephone the Clinic and ask for your Practitioner to give you a call.
If at any point you feel very unwell this may be nothing to do with your supplement prescription so deal with as you would usually eg by contacting your GP.
Constipation
Sometimes a change in diet may cause you to be constipated for a couple of days whilst your body gets used to the changes. Ensure you are sticking closely to all elements of the diet and drinking enough water - usually 2 litres for women and 3 litres for men. Also ensure you are getting daily exercise eg a brisk walk for 20 minutes. Taking a hot drink of half a squeezed lemon first thing in the morning when you wake up followed by your breakfast can sometimes help to get things moving. If the problem continues for more than a couple of days telephone the Clinic and ask for your Practitioner to give you a call.
If at any point you feel very unwell this may be nothing to do with your supplement prescription so deal with as you would usually eg by contacting your GP.
Flu-like symptoms or slight temperature
Very occasionally someone may experience mild flu-like symptoms, or flu-like symptoms with a change in bowel movements and/or a headache. This may be what is referred to as a healing crisis or may be an unrelated viral or other infection. Stop taking all remedies unless you have Engystol, Lymphomyosot and/or Traumeel in your natural health prescription which you can continue to take as it may help. Stop taking all supplements apart from your Vitamin C, and/or antioxidant capsules. Change to a very light diet of clear soups with a small amount of fresh fruit and/or fresh juices unless excluded in your diet prescription. You may want to progress to poached fish or baked chicken and a small amount of brown rice with steamed carrots and broccoli when you feel ready. Rest in bed if possible and be sure to keep up your intake of water. The symptoms should pass within 48 hours.
