Cooking for Menopause

The menopause can, unfortunately, be a difficult time for many women.  It does seem to be experienced more smoothly by women in countries that eat diets rich in vegetables and fermented soya products, whereas women eating a typical western diet often experience more symptoms such as depression, anxiety and hot flushes.

Changing to a more healthy diet can go a long way to making you feel better able to cope and may even help remove some of those troublesome symptoms such as hot flushes.  Switching to a more healthy diet will also help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis - both of which become higher risk for you after menopause.

This is our favourite book for recipes tailored for the menopause but you will find that they are also great ways to introduce the whole family to more healthy foods such as those rich in phyto-nutrients (nutrients found naturally in plants) and omega-3 rich foods.  Just click on the Buy from Amazon link to get straight through to them.

If you are troubled by symptoms of menopause or worried about your risk of developing osteoporosis or cardiovascular disease why not consider an appointment with our Consultant Practitioner.  She can arrange specific tests for you to help you see the actual scientific readings of key indicators in your blood, urine or saliva which indicate how much risk you are at.  She can then work with you through diet and supplements to help you reduce these risk for the future or help reduce menopausal symptoms.
