Functional Testing

Functional Tests are basically tests carried out by a Laboratory to give an insight into how something is working ... or 'functioning'.  These tests can now be commissioned by qualified alternative-health Practitioners giving you the opportunity to combine the scientific evidence of clinical test results, with your own choice of treatment.  This is called 'evidence-based' practice.  The criticisms of the media that alternative medicine cannot be scientific in its approach is therefore now unfounded.

The Advantages for you

  • You can get a 'window' on your health and take action if needed before symptoms develop
  • There is no guess work of the supplements you need to take
  • Your prescription is personally tailored to you and your test results
  • No need for forever chasing the next 'breakthrough' in supplements because you will know just what your body needs
  • You get treatment quickly before problems develop
  • Progress can be checked with followup testing (usually at a cheaper price because it will be targeted just at those areas that tested originally as needing treatment).

The disadvantages

  • You cannot get these tests on the NHS
  • Currently you cannot get the price of the tests covered under your Private Health cover.

You Decide ...

Therefore you have to be sure yourself that the tests are worth the investment.  However, the benefits far outweigh the financial investment and can ultimately save you money, and health problems, in the long run as you can see above.

What test?

You may know yourself the kind of test you want - maybe Diabetes runs in your family, or you are thinking of trying for a baby.  Alternatively your therapist may suggest that a test could be beneficial to try and get to the root cause of your problems.
